Küresel Araştırmacı Gazetecilik Ağı’nın on yılı aşkın bir süredir liderliğini yürüten direktörü David Kaplan, İsveç’in Göteborg kentinde düzenlenen 13.Küresel Araştırmacı Gazetecilik Konferansı’nda yani 2023 yılının Eylül ayında görevinden ayrılacağını açıkladı. Kaplan, 2003 yılında Ağı kuran 30 üye kuruluşu temsil edenler arasındaydı ve Şubat 2012’de Ağın ilk tam zamanlı direktörü oldu.

As we prepare to gather for the 12th Global Investigative Journalism Conference in early November — our first, online-only event — it seems a good time to share again with our colleagues where the Global Investigative Journalism Network and its conferences come from. It was a simple idea at the end of the 20th century — to gather the world’s investigative journalists to share their knowledge with each other — that gave birth to GIJN, which has now grown to 211 member organizations in 82 countries.
The European Fund for Investigative Journalism was created in 2008 to fill a glaring need in European journalism: providing grants to reporters working on investigative projects, especially on cross-border issues. Since then, Journalismfund.eu, as it’s called, has made dozens of grants that have produced groundbreaking stories ranging from human slavery and arms trafficking to property corruption and document fraud.

This compact set of crash seminars features leading experts with insights on what investigative journalism is, as well as how to follow public records, investigate with data, understand financial records and the best online search strategies.
Three people have died in Denmark due to infection from drug-resistant “super-bug” bacteria from pigs. None of the deceased themselves had been in contact with the animals. Data on the three deaths emerged in testimony in the City Court of Aarhus, Denmark, on Tuesday, in the trial of Danish journalists Kjeld Hansen and Nils Mulvad. The two journalists are being prosecuted for revealing farms in which the bacteria is spreading. Mulvad is a co-founder of the Global Investigative Journalism Network, and both work for GIJN-member Investigative Reporting Denmark.
Some of the best tips and techniques come out of the annual meetings by our colleagues in Scandinavia, and this year is no different. More than 600 participants attended the SKUP conference in Tønsberg, Norway, on April 8-10. Among the tip sheets presented was this gem of 25 practical tips that reporters in even the smallest newsrooms can use to good effect, focused on finding great characters and cases to bring your story to life.
