Chapter three of GIJN’s new Reporting Guide to Holding Governments Accountable for Climate Change Pledges looks at investigating country commitments to see if their promises are being kept.
GIJN member Danwatch was launched in 2007 by civic groups in Denmark with a focus on both research and journalism. Danwatch has since grown to have one of the largest specialized investigative journalism teams in Denmark, with 13 reporters, one of them based in South America.
Mia Malan is the founding editor-in-chief of the Bhekisisa Centre for Health Journalism, a pioneering, donor-funded media start-up in South Africa. In this interview Malan gives an overview of the work of her colleagues and gives some tips on how to cover the current crisis.
