The 2023 Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC23) is now scheduled for September 19 – 22 in the historic city of Gothenburg, Sweden. GIJN is excited to join with two local co-hosts for the 13th iteration of its conference: The Fojo Media Institute at Linnaeus University, and Föreningen Grävande Journalister, Sweden’s national association of investigative journalists.

At a time of growing intolerance toward independent media and free expression, we at GIJN are particularly pleased to announce that our Board of Directors has approved a record 20 new member organizations from 14 countries. GIJN now has 203 member groups in 80 countries.
In Kenya, the NGOs Transparency International and Fojo Media Institute have paired up to train budding investigative journalists and offer them reporting grants. GIJN’s Rowan Philp reports.
