The Global Investigative Journalism Network and Netzwerk Recherche, Germany’s association of investigative journalists, are pleased to announce the launch of GIJN Deutsch, an editorial office and resource center for German-speaking journalists in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
In this GIJN webinar, we bring together two senior reporters and two experts who will offer tools and techniques to identify specific methane emitters, find the data, and look closely at measurement systems. They will also present tips and resources to research what companies and governments are doing to reduce methane emissions.
The GIJN Resource Center is a leading source of tipsheets, videos, and guides on investigative and data journalism, fundraising, freelancing, and security. It’s used by journalists in 100 countries per day in 14 languages.

How should journalists investigate what has happened to people who have disappeared? What is the best way of dealing with their families, the organized crime groups often involved in the cases, and corrupt officials? Mexican investigative journalist Marcela Turati and Óscar Martínez from El Salvador, both specialists on reporting on transnational organized crime, shared their tips during GIJN’s Spanish language webinar.
GIJN’s latest membership class includes its first two members from Francophone Africa and three new members in the Middle East/North Africa. They range from investigative newsrooms and media development groups to university-based centers and cross-border networks. GIJN also welcomed members from six previously unrepresented countries: Cameroon, Malta, Paraguay, Palestine, Senegal, and the Slovak Republic.
The 2021 Global Investigative Journalism Conference will be held online this November. But the re-scheduled conference will take place in-person in Sydney, Australia’s harbor city, in October 2022.
