The Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC) is the premier international gathering of investigative and data journalists, held once every two years. This year, the 10th conference will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 16 to 19, and is being co-hosted by the Global Investigative Journalism Network and the Wits University Journalism Programme.
GIJC17 incorporates this year’s African Investigative Journalism Conference and will feature more than 120 exciting panels, workshops, and networking sessions, ranging from cross-border collaboration and corruption to advanced data analysis. Here’s a chance to learn from the best in the field and enhance your skills with the latest tips and tools.
With the support of our sponsors, GIJN and Wits Journalism are offering fellowships to both established and young promising journalists in developing and transitioning countries to participate in this prestigious event. Competition is keen so you need to convince us that you’ll make great use of the training GIJC17 offers. We will be offering between 40 and 60 fellowships to African journalists, and nearly 100 more for journalists elsewhere.

I would be very grateful if you could kindly grant me the opportunity to take part in this conference. It will offer me yet another platform to share and learn from friends as well as colleague investigative journalists across the globe.
I participated in the 2015 global investigative journalists conference held in Lillihamer-Norway.
Attending this conference will be one of my greatest achievements this year because i’m sure interacting with fellow experienced journalists from across the globe will change my mindset on the way i have been viewing reporting especially here in Sub-Saharan Africa as an environmental journalist.
This conference will also equip me with investigative skills to help me unearth the invisible hand in Massive encroachment on Uganda’s Tropical forests.

The GIJC is very rich in experiences. because of my participation, I was able to make many sharings in my country, and by now young malagasy journalists are interested by investigative journalism. This year, we would like to renew this experience in Norway .
This is a very helpful iniative that will equip journalists across the globe with new technics in practicing the pro FD session professionally.

My name is Sandile I am a young health journalist, online freelancer from kzn Durban. my wish is to also attend GIJC. I have few questions, will there be a transport from Durban King Shaka Airport to OR Tambo.
I am not an investigate journalist but I can be, is it possible for me to apply.
Are we as journalists going to produce a story or presentation after the conference or before the conference?
Hello, Sandile. The fellowship includes airfare to Johannesburg and a shuttle to your hotel. You would be responsible for getting to the Durban airport. The competition is open to all journalists, but it’s important your work shows promise and ability to do enterprise and in-depth reporting. Per the fellowship description, if you receive a fellowship, you would be responsible for producing a story or presentation after the conference, based on what you learned there. Good luck!

I will be obliged with a response to this Inquiry.
I have filled the application form with links to my stories since March. But the links got dormant after my newspapers’ website was down. We are back on a new hosting and the stories have been re-uploaded on our website with new links. Efforts to synchronize the old and new links were fruitless.
Should I refill the form with the new links or send the new links only to you through this medium since I have earlier filled the form.
Thank you in anticipation of a quick response. We appreciate this beautiful effort to make Africa, nay the world, a better place.
Sincerely,
Adeola Yusuf
Best to refill the form with the new links, Adeola. That way we are sure to see them. Thanks and good luck!
Obviously as the oldest aspirant, I have much to learn from the young that can benefit my target audience in my country. Yet even the young may have something to learn from one coming from the cobwebs of development journalism

Hello. I am Beninese journalist. This conference seems to me very major in the career of an international investigative journalist. So I very happy to count among the participants in this big appointment. However, I wish that it is simultaneously led in English and in French. It is a complaint.
Hello. I’m a Russian journalist. Should work samples attached to the aplication form be translated into English? Should I confirm the level of my English to participate in conference?
We need at least a summary in English of your best stories, Dmitry. And, yes, it’s worth stressing that you have good English comprehension. The conference will be in English. Hope to see you there!
i will like to attend this seminar
