The Global Investigative Journalism Network is delighted to announce the selection of three Asian media organizations as participants in our new Investigative Journalism Assessment Program (IJ-MAP): The Caravan magazine in India, the KBR radio network  in Indonesia, and the nonprofit Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism.

The IJ-MAP project, an initiative of GIJN Advisory Services, aims to strengthen the watchdog journalism and organizational capacity of small-to-medium independent media outlets. GIJN experts provide an overall assessment and follow-up consulting on such areas as investigative reporting, data journalism, audience reach, revenue diversification, and security.    

The Caravan is a monthly magazine and digital publication in English and Hindi that features long-form, narrative journalism. KBR is a multimedia news service, publisher and network, with more than 300 radio stations across Indonesia rebroadcasting its programming. The Philippine Centre for Investigative Journalism pioneered nonprofit investigative journalism in Asia and focuses on investigative projects and training.

GIJN received 22 applications for this first round of capacity building, which was limited to Asia. Given the strong demand, we plan to open a new, global round of assessments in early 2022. To stay informed, you can subscribe to the GIJN newsletter here.
