Increasingly, the most ambitious data journalism projects are fueled by collaborations. These can be key when working with huge datasets (think ICIJ’s Panama Papers or Implant Files). But collaboration isn’t easy: It takes some patience, and a lot of planning. ProPublica has created an excellent playbook covering key questions like figuring out whether a project makes sense for collaboration; how to assemble partnerships and what form they might take; and then launching the project, maintaining it, and winding it down.
The open-source playbook is available on GitBook in both English, Portuguese and Spanish.
